Sun, surf and shaved ice – Oahu is one of our favorite Hawaiian islands! Known as “the Gathering Place” among the islands, Oahu boasts the best of what Hawaii has to offer: pristine beaches, priceless views, and a mix of old- and new.  Hit the beach, get a spa treatment, go for a hike, but if you’re not visiting the capital for a meal or two, you’re not getting the most out of your vacation.

When planning your trip to Hawaii we recommend your give yourself at least 3-4 days on OAHU.  OAHU_HAWAII_THE_SIMPLE_SOL (1 of 1)-30

The island is big! So you’ll want to rent a car (splurge on a convertible if you can) and take that baby around the whole island. There is so much to see and do! Map by Lauren Taylor Creates

Hit up Waikiki Beach for some surf lessons and some serious people watching. A walk on the beach is such a throw back you’ll feel so nostalgic. Lanikai Beach and Diamond Head are my favorite spots for the perfect beach day.

Spend a least one day on The North Shore and don’t leave with out getting an Acai bowl from Haleiwa Bowls and some shaved ice from Aloha General Store! See our guide below for where to eat.

Back on Waikiki , The Royal Hawaiian Hotel is a landmark resort that is still an icon of luxury and romance. The Pink Palace was built back in 1927 and is a must visit on your trip.

Pick up morning treats at the famous Leonards Bakery, serving the best Malasadas puffs since 1952 (the custard filled ones were the best)!OAHU_HAWAII_THE_SIMPLE_SOL (1 of 1)-8

If you want to catch a glimpse of  Luau, The Royal Hawaiann puts on a great show that you can catch for free at their bar!

Hawaii nights aren’t complete with out sunsets and Mai Ties. Find the best sunset on the west side of the island at Yokohama Bay.

There are tree swings lining The North Shore- something none of us can resist. So when in Hawaii let your hair done, breathe in the salty air and see what magic the island brings!
