HOTEL EDITION: FAENA MIAMI BEACH

Saturday, July 2, 2016

On my way to Colombia I decided to stop for a few days in South Beach and check out the brand new FAENA Miami Beach Hotel.  “A Place Like No Other” is their tag line and it couldn’t more true, this is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The first Faena Hotel is in Buenos Aires and Faena Miami Beach opened just three months ago in late December 2015… it is by far the hottest new spot in South Beach.

I don’t remember the last time I had butterflies about a place. On the car ride from the airport, I was absolutely giddy and my expectations were VERY high. When I walked through the entrance, it was like walking into a museum. Floor to ceiling murals by Argentine painter Juan Gatti cover the walls of the grand entrance.  I settled into my fabulous suite and stepped out onto the balcony that had a panoramic beachfront and an ocean view. My butler brought me afternoon tea and I enjoyed the peaceful retreat for a bit before I headed down to explore.

Owner, Argentine developer and self-described “urban alchemist” Alan Faena had a direct hand in every detail, down to creating the design for the staff’s uniforms. He is all about creating utopias and wanted to bring back Miami’s golden age  and all of it’s luxury and glamour (the butler service was to die for).

Pops of red everywhere.

My experience was truly exotic and it went beyond just the atmosphere and the service. The whole place is like an art museum. Beautifully curated spaces, fabulous art and vibrant colors are the backdrop to this masterpiece. The staff plays a huge role in the multi cultural experience.  And hidden in the hotel is a theatre –inspired by Europe’s grand opera houses with the glittering allure of Old Hollywood and a secret bar where the mixologist is just a little bit magic.

I hated to say goodbye, but I know I will be back again.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
